9:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2nd

And the sun is still shining!  This is the view from my bedroom at the Croi Oige Student Accommodation in Athlone. It's the first sunny day we've had since I arrived in Ireland on May 20th. It's also the first day I've been warm since I arrived.  As recently as last night I had the heater on in my room, socks on my feet, and two duvets on the bed.  Tonight the windows are open and I've got the fan on to move the air.  There's no 'splaining it.  We're off to Loughcrew tomorrow and it seems like the beautiful weather will be holding.  I'm taking my rain jacket just in case – as you do.

It’s winter here in Peru, so pitch dark at 7 p.m. as I write this. The temps are in the 70s, though, and down to about 63 at night. I’m loving reading about your trip.
