Clare had a busy day on Thursday. Her session at the Aidan Heavey Library started at 11:00. I got there just before 12:00 and she was still going strong. I was just in time to hear the Irish version of Clever Manka. I got to say hello to Mae McLynn, the librarian there that I have worked with in the past. She passed on the number of a school teacher that I am hoping to work with while I’m here. Danielle was there too, but she dashed off to pick up her girls.
After her session, Clare and I had lunch at the Prince of Wales, and then we picked up Danielle who had dropped off her rental car, after dropping off her girls at the baby sitter. Then we all headed to Moate for Clare’s next session. The Moate branch of the Westmeath County Library is in a small store front on the main street.
At 3:30 close to 30 children and moms piled in to hear stories from Clare. She told them a great version of the Wide Mouthed Frog, plus Monkey and Crocodile and a couple more. The picture above is Clare as the giraffe telling the wide-mouthed frog what she eats. The picture below is of the children, including a roaring sheep, she brought up to help her tell a cumulative story about a sleeping Galway granny.
We left Danielle at the library, since Tom was going to pick her up to fetch her newly repaired car in Mullingar. Clare and I returned to the Croi Oige Student Accommodation for a rest and a meal before we headed to The Shack for her evening performance for the Study Abroad Ireland participants.
