Finding a Home by Eva Valdez

On Saturday September 20th  I participated in the Sedona Celtic Harvest Festival and it was a turning point in my life. I have been blessed and challenged throughout my life, however the opportunities have outweighed any struggle. Sedona was my Cinderella day. I performed for the first time in public surrounded by bagpipes and the magic of the red rock.

The drive up began to take on a new dimension from the desert floor to rolling hills of Eire. I am not Celtic however I had a step-grandfather,Patrick Timothy Murphy from County Cork, Ireland, as a guardian and support.  He told me tales and made me feel as if I may have been a lost fairy  princess, or maybe a warrior who could always find my way home. He gave me a sense of right and wrong and taught me that faith with a touch of magic would always see me through. Then I came home to the SMCC Storytelling Institute and not only found my voice and lit a passion,  but found a home.

To the group that went up that day and to Liz and the families that came to support: Thank you!

You rocked Eva! Keep that little bottle of peppermint oil nearby. Just thinking about it gives me courage.
