An Overly Rigid Schedule

Check out my horoscope for today, which I just got because back home it’s morning.  Here, of course, I’ve already spent two-thirds of my day.

Wednesday, Jun 10th, 2009 — An overly rigid schedule can be your temporary downfall today. If one appointment runs late, then each one will follow in turn, compounding the problem and turning your calendar into a hot mess. If, on the other hand, you are flexible in your approach, then managing your day can be a piece of cake. Leave room between your appointments so that you can roll with whatever changes come your way.

We have three storytellers in town at the moment: Fionnuala McKinly from Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland, Pat Ryan from London, and Simone Schummelfeder from Germany.   The schedule is packed!  Simone and I did a radio interview between my class, a meeting I had at St. Peter’s School, followed by sessions in Ballinasloe and at the Athlone Library. In between I grabbed some groceries and then drove to pick up Pat. We just got back.  I’m making dinner for the gang and Pat tells stories for our students and some local people at 7:00.  I’ve been too busy to write.  We’re off to Dublin tomorrow and I think I’m going to hunker down and get some blogging done. I'm way behind and have lots to share.

Well, I am glad to hear this because I have to talk to you.
    Here’s my update:
We have the process underway for the Summer Storytelling with the kids. I outline a really nice schedule with good intent. Harriet and LynnAnn reviewed and liked what I wrote.
I called the New School for transcripts to get my paperwork finalized.
I just got off the phone with EF tours and have repackaged the Ireland Storytelling Trip for next summer the dates are July 1-14th 2010. We do a stay ahead so we will need places to say and transportation from the 1st – the 7th. I am delighted because we end the 2nd half of the tour in Northern Ireland. The package they give and price is really good. I am hoping that makes seeing Liz Weir possible.
Much more to share about a wonderful dialogue with Laura about what we can do with Jr. Ace and High School Transitions.
I am working at closing out Tertulia as quickly as possible. That’s been quite fascinating.
All is well and much is happening. We miss you…great to hear so much wonderful telling is taking place.
    Much Love Marilyn Omifunke

Great blog, Liz! So much fun to “watch” from here. Oh, and by the way, Niall McCarthy from SMCC is in Ireland visiting his mum until the end of July. I sent him this blog link hoping he might be in touch. Living vicariously!
