Wednesday afternoon at the Ballinasloe Library, Clare Murphy officially launched the 2nd Annual Three Rivers Festival. I’d never heard her before, and I was completely captivated. She told the best version of The Storyteller at Fault that I’ve ever heard. Click here to see a version of the story. Her version of how CuChulainn got his name was fast-paced and fierce.
She’ll be telling for Study Abroad Ireland tonight at The Shack. She’s going to tell her version of The Sons of Mil, which tells of the coming of the Celts to Ireland. I’m hoping she will tell CuChulainn for them too, but I’m sure I’ll be delighted with whatever she chooses.
Clare is from Dublin, but has been living in Galway for the past seven years. She’s done some fascinating and effective storytelling programs with Galway’s international and refugee populations, as well as programs for teenagers and the elderly.
