Facing the Future by Joan Misek

In Suddenly They Heard Footsteps, Dan
Yashinsky wrote a paragraph which impressed me.  "Our stories and
sayings make a frame within which children make sense of their place in the
world".  I love to write personal stories to show my children and
their children what it was like to live in the past. I think it helps them to
learn that regardless of the difficulties in life that each generation encounters,
we must help one another face  the future
and move on.

Joan, I always look forward to hearing one of your personal stories. I have learned about life from you and your stories. I guess I do feel like I am related to you in a sense… I feel like I am part of your storytelling family.
