Little Red Riding Hood has multiple personality disorder, or is schizophrenic, at the very least.  The folk tale teaches us that she’s smart. The 18^th century bourgeoisie tell us she’s a fool. Und der 19^th century kindermarchen inform us she can be redeemed.  But in the 20^th century there are two choices: she’s pure innocence or Hot! Hot! Hot! 

Do a YouTube search on Red and up come Japanese commercials with bouncing  animal body parts. You can also see animated cartoons where Wolf “eats” Red, alright.  This might be followed by Tex Avery’s howling canine…and don’t forget Sam the Sham!  For tamer fare there’s Disney, Little Audrey, “Storytime Felts” – a kinda creepie weeble-escent tag game for outdoor fun, and finally a saccharine Slavic  kid’s tune with over 2,500,000 hits!  Who is this girl?  More to the point, who are we to put all this on her?
